Logo/Banner making software
Hi
I am looking for a software that does not require great knowlege of graphics to make my own banners and logos. I am not looking at something like photo shop which is a bit pricey and advanced for my current needs. I have downloaded a few for trial such as Banner maker Pro 8. Can any one reccommend anything? |

GIMP
It's open source (free) and almost as sophisticated as PhotoShop. Stand alone it's pretty sweet. Add some plugins and it's even better. There are versions for Windows, MAC and Linux that you can get here: http://www.gimp.org/downloads/ Personally, I prefer to download the Portable Apps version so I don't have to worry about whether or not I've got the right DLLs: http://portableapps.com/apps/graphic.../gimp_portable Hint: Make sure, if you're installing GIMP from Portable Apps, that you install it to your Program Files folder.

I'll second that, GIMP all the way if Photoshop is out of your budget. It'll do everything you need for banner/logo/etc design plus a lot more. Definitely stay away from any cheesy "banner making" type apps - spending a little extra time learning the basics of GIMP or PS will pay off in the long run.

Super awesome reference, thank you. This looks like a real gem! I love free, open-source stuff. Mostly because it's free! Thanks again!

Here's some gimp tutorials http://www.tutorialized.com/tutorials/Gimp/1
I stick with photoshop and fireworks for this type of stuff, but if you don't want to pay, beg, borrow or steal, gimp is definitely worth having and learning.
