Flash Vids in Your Blogs?
How many of you froggers who only work as affils use a embedded vid once in a while, say, in a blog post? Is it giving too much away for free, even with the short length or is tempting enough to make a sale? I just started playing around with some flash players. What I haven't figure out is how to get the a link code in the vid frame so you can click on the player and it will take you to the tour, etc., but before I figure that out I was just wondering what success or not anyone's noticed.
BTW, this week has been CRAP CRAP CRAP!!! Total KAK!

Oh and before anyone jumps on this, has 2257 sec 18 been relegated to don't ask don't tell? Odd how that's all we talked about a year and a half ago.

Are you hosting the flash vids yourself. I usually just embed the sponsors embed code into the post. Sometimes they don't work
I need to look into it.

Sure. Hosting them myself. There are a few plugins that make it super easy. See you in prison.

At any rate, to address your question. I haven't seen any difference in my own situation with regard to embedding vids, but I'm not a major power blogger churning out 20+ sales a day either. I do however feel that video should be featured on the blog in some capacity, I don't think it gives too much away.

I think flash vids are good as long as they are not too long. I know each time I add some free sample movies to see right there in the post with WMV my sales seem to go up.
Flash however is something I'm trying to figure out. I think they are great, I just don't know how to use them. I have one place that sent me 4 different files to make their flash movie and I have no idea what to do with them!

I installed this one, it's a total piece of cake, but I'm still trying to figure out how to make a hyperlink in the video frame itself that will take you to the sponsor tour.

Thank you for the plug-in link Miss Bunny, much appreciated. When you say you want to add a link within' the frame, where have you seen that before?

I had a sponsor that offered embed code with rotating vids. So I made a page on a blog and dumped that code into it. I've been using the page to direct users to other static pages that they might not otherwise see, for example a fake TGP. The blog gets the benefit of having the link to "free videos" on every page as spider food and I send the traffic to other parts of my site by way of it. That's what I've been doing with flash vids. It wouldn't be too difficult to put a link into a flash video (with a copy of Flash), but I'm not sure that it would be worth the effort to do it with new videos frequently enough to keep things interesting for surfers. Might be interesting to experiment with.
As far as 2257 goes, the vids that the sponsor provides have the same models as their static content, so they're already covered in my existing 2257 info. |

[flashvideo file=videos/my-video.flv /] in the html code of your WP post. Now looking through the forums, I saw that you can do sth like [flashvideo filename=videos/test.flv image=videos/test.jpg logo=videos/click.png link=http://www.google.com linkfromdisplay=true linktarget =_blank /] Which would give you a small text link like "click for full video" for the file that is "click.png" which would be the click for the outbound link. I was able to do that, but I can't get the actual outbound link to show up - all it does when someone clicks is put the pause on the video play. I have seen this done successfully a number of times though. I have a feeling I'm missing some extremely minor but important step, which is how I often operate. Tell me if you can get it figured out.

I'll try and follow up on this, what I have seen is a small drop down screen from the top of the vid frame that links, perhaps that may work for you. But you're probably right, normally it's the minor details that are missing, but surely there are some options...
