Anyone else having a horrible week for sales?

I finally was getting steady sales of 3 to 5 a day,,,, up until the first of this week. As of Monday I have not had one single sale.

I assume it's because of Christmas holidays. Many are visiting family, and they can't view porn at their mother-in-laws!

Or the ones who watch it at work have the week off, or they are just too busy. Yet my traffic is still the same.

Anyone else have a bad week for sales? Should sales pick up right after New Years, like I have heard?

I don't even worry about holiday seasons as far as sales go or weekends for traffic (where mine usually drops significantly).

This is my third (i think) holiday season doing this straight through and they usually are lower than the rest of the year and if you take into consideration the economy horror, things aren't really so bad (for me anyway - not as bad as I thought they were going to be).

Normally I would say things will pick up in 2009, but you have this global nightmare to consider, but definitely sooner or later as long as you don't give in to it

Yessss. Absolutely worst week in months, but I also suffered a huge loss of traffic from google recently. I'm not going to worry about it until 2009 though and we are treating ourselves to a mini vacation up on the freezing cold central coast now instead. Don't fret it until its January and everyone goes back to work.

Sales were slow this whole year compared to the previous 2 years. And the last 2 months particularly have not been great. Usually this is my best time of the year although I have not done any advertising as I have in the past so that may have something to do with it.

Anyway the year is not that good as predicted. + the crisis makes people economize even on porn...

My sales usually pick up in the first week of January but not this year. Guess everybody's new year resolution is to economize, even on porn as Goldie said.

Actually, we had a thread some months back on whether the recession would affect our sales and most people were of the opinion that we wouldn't be hit too hard, because when times are bad people look for some simple self-indulgent escapism.

I don't know if that still holds, not with all the free porn on the net now. If people are having to budget then they have even less incentive to get their credit card out for a sponsor rather than simply have a free wank to redtube.

If my income drops I'm going to seriously have to consider setting up in Uruaguay or Argentina, where it's possible live well on $200 a week.

I'm surprised this thread keeps getting bumped back up. Actually ever since the 1st sales have been going well for me.

I am still building my sites up, so every month is better than the last one. I made this thread around Christmas because I am not use to the slow sales around that time.

But now things are going well. But, I keep building more and more, linking more and getting more traffic. So I keep getting more sales. Hmmmm, I think I'll keep doing that!

Whats your system for linking. I think my lack of linking skills is the main reason why sales have been slow for me the last year. I never really understood the linking aspect of driving traffic to a site. If you do that dont you just end up with a link farm? And how do you find people to link with without having to jump through the hoops most sites want you to jump through to get a link. Or are those hoops worth it for their traffic?

Oh and living comfortable on $200 a day in Argentina???Really??? Priceline here I come.

You have to use a wide variety of links. I use top list, a-b-c links, straight swaps, bartering (like doing a review for a site in return for a top link on their site), bought links and anything else I can find.

My sites are big, so I have more room to place links on different pages and still make it look good without a 50 link row of links. All sites are link farms when you think about it. You just have to spread them out so they don't look bad.

Also you always try to get more links coming in to you then you have going out. Finally you have to try to make your site look better than the others your linking to. Or have something different.

Otherwise your just the next stop of a long list of pages the surfer clicks on. So if your site is just another splog or looks like everyone else's, then linking does not do much good.

It's the combination of having a quality, different site with many links going to it that gets the sales, not just having the links. Likewise, a great site does nothing for you without links!

Thanks for the advice. I think this year I'll devote more time to building links and driving traffic, which so far has definitely been a weakness of mine.

Well I know for certain that for porn, Argentina is about as liberal as it comes, and I would imagine uruguay is similar.

Chile, I wasn't so sure because I know they have a feminist government and thought that it might have introduced ball chopping laws in the last couple of years. But I've just done a little google research and it appears not judging from this Chilean porn site :

I actually live in Chile , and lived in Argentina for 18 years, in both countries with an income of $200 a week you can hardly live. Thats what a taxi driver or an unqualified secretary makes, and is not enough for a decent living. Perhaps wih $400....
Now fellows I'll ask some advice, I've been submitting free sites and galleries to TGPs for years, but every year is worst than the previous. What can I do to improve in biz? I mean how can I drive traffic to my hubs and make a strong mega site out of them?
Is there another way? I need to reach the weekly $400 hehehe!!

Ahh and don't worry about morality, if you have bucks enough, anyone care.....

Work smarter and harder.

The TGP and freesite game is losing ground but still a potentially profitable source of income.

Expand your network by building some blogs and feed them with your existing traffic as well as other traffic sources not available to TGPs or Freesites.

Keep building, keep linking, and don't just stop your efforts. For each day you fuck around there is another webmaster out there stealing your traffic and sales.

There is no magic formula, keep working and building and soon you will see your magic number.

I was about to say the same thing balls just did, posted while I was making my own!

Try out blogs, look around and see how else you can drive traffic. I just found a new way the other day that I thought was worthless, but I was WRONG!

You have to link, and link, and link. You have to get that traffic that is looking for what you have, and you have to present it better than most out there.

The combination of lots of links to the traffic you want with a better looking site, gallery or whatever you have will get you sales.

Then once you do that,,,,, do more linking!!
