FHG's and hot-linking
It seems on most Affiliate sites, that you can export their FHG links, that you then put on your homepage.
So far so good. But I noticed you also get the option of exporting a thumbnail/preview to each gallery. I presume I'm supposed to use that thumbnail next to the gallery-link on my homepage. But if I use the supplied link, wouldn't that be hot-linking? Am I supposed to download the thumbnail, and then host it on my own server? Thanks. |

Some sponsors allow you to hotlink the thumb that you use to link to their hosted gallery. But not all. You need to ask your sponsor.
If they provide code for you to cut and paste that looks like this; <a ref="http://hosted-gall.com/gall001/"><img src="http://hosted-gall.com/gall001/thumb.jpg"></a> then they are letting you hot link the thumb. The best thing to do is ask your sponsor to be sure. |

Thx a lot, this was exactly the kind of answer I was looking for. Seems some sponsers don't always reply, in that case I will just play it safe.

Most sponsors give you "hosted" content.
Hosted means just that. The sponsor is hosting the content so yeah that would mean you're hotlinking to them. So, no problem. You as an affiliate are simply a go between the hosted content and the main site.

If it's a hosted gallery then the image can be hot linked. Or most likley can.
This is used for TGP's, look at the option to export csv file then select: image, link, and description Open it in excel, you can use this data to fill TGP's or if you use excels search and replace function you can add the HTML tags around it so the image is displayed and links to hosted gallery with the alt tag set as the description. Be carful though, the images tent to be repeated and so do descriptions.
