Is there a paysite market for audio recordings?
Hi there. I'm new here, so hopefully you'll be gentle if this is in the wrong section or breaks any postings taboos. I'm interested in possibly starting a paysite, centered around a young, barely-legal schoolgirl theme. As far as content goes, I would want to use photos and videos that were cheap and not terribly exclusive, but I'd supplement them with my audio stories that characterized each of the girls and told dirty little stories from her perspective. I'd include some teachers and related characters for good measure.
I started out on Niteflirt. Because of my set-up (sattelite internet, no telephone), I kind of got pushed away from actual phone sex, and into making MP3 recordings and selling them. I've done well for myself there, but I can't help but have bigger dreams. I think I'm incredibly talented, a natural born writer and...well, other things too! But, contrary to why many other might start a porn site, I'd kind of like to develop something that I could grow to love and work on for years and years to come. To give you a brief idea of how prolific I am, I put out about twenty-five, 3-15min recordings in the past three weeks. So my question is, do you feel that this sort of idea is marketable, and what would be the best way to get set up. I have a source where I'd buy cheap picture content, and I have tons of my own audio content to work with, but I'm severely limited when it comes to knowing how to setup and advertise a pay site. I'm not really interested in spending time pushing it (through internet advertising) either, as I'd much rather be writing/producing content every day. Are partnerships common, perhaps where one person produces a lot of the content and someone else manages the tech end of things? I'm really weary of the idea of working with just anybody...there's a lot of potential for abuse and dishonesty, in my mind. How hard would it be to set something up from a template. I'm quite artistic, and I could create most of the artwork for the site myself, if I had to. I can also cut and past what I want from place to place. It's the coding from scratch that I can't do, and I have no idea how some things would end up working. Could I self-educate myself in a reasonable amount of time? And barring all that, how much would it cost me to have the site designed by someone else, and if I were to pay for the advertising end of things, do you think there would be room for a profit? Thanks for any thought/input you'd care to muster up, and for reading through this ultra-long post. Brevity is one of my short-comings :P Thanks again, Amanda P.S. welcome to cozy acuteschoolgirl.
You have certainly asked enough for your very first post. I'll try and give my 2 cents and answer a few of your questions. I have never heard of a site dedicated to erotic recordings, that doesn't mean its not possible to sell but I think success for such a site will take a lot of trial and error. Professional site design is reasonably priced and depending on how in depth you plan on making the site will determine the cost. I'd ballpark it at 300-1000 bucks but you will need to know exactly what you want as a finished product before even hiring a designer. I might sound like a broken record but if you are a good writer why not market your clips with a blog? It will give you more advanced knowledge of html and css while supplementing your income for new projects. how much does it cost to start a blog? just hosting (like 10 bucks a month). The idea of buying cheap picture content to supplement the site content is kind of a no win situation. Cheap content is either poor quality or heavily saturated, meaning that it's not likely to help you sell the site. ill stop there and let someone else chime in, hope it helps

with a blog you can also add similar sponsors to your own in the sidebars for even more money. The good thing about blogs is that as it grows so will your understanding of it. There is no reason you should need to start another blog, just keep tweaking your own until it starts to produce. We can give advice on design until you have a nice working blog.

Hi again. I'm just going to have to do some more research, I think. There's still so much on these boards that I haven't read yet, and I think I'd learn a lot by exploring. I do have a free blog up at blogspot, http://acuteschoolgirl.blogspot.com/ but as of this month I've made so much money that I probably should go ahead and just pay for hosting and a few domain names, and set up my own blogs. Is there a hosting company you might recommend? I've used Dreamhost in the past, but they run about $120/year with a single, free domain registration thrown in. I've never had trouble with them, however, and they're an excellent company.
Could I get a blog all set up and functioning before I got my hosting? Like, set up locally? I use MS Frontpage for all of my local editing. I don't actually use the editor because it's too sloppy. I do everything in html, and just use the preview panes to get a good sense of what things look like. Can I set a whole blog up locally, and then upload it somehow? I've played with a blog before, again with Dreamhost, but the style stuff in particular seemed really complicated. Any good tutorial sites you can reccomend? I'l also look around this site for the info as well. Oh, and thanks to the people who run this board and the people who spend time here. Seems like a really warm and supportive community, and I'm glad I found the place ^^ |

*Edited to add* I looked up the hosting company, and they run $15.00/month, which is a bit higher than Dreamhost. What in particular makes you reccomend them? Also, do they handle your domain registrations for you, and what do they charge if they do. If you or someone else had a sec to look at the features for both plans (and I'd go with the cheapest ATCI one), is there a big difference anywhere between the two plans? ATCI Hosting page: http://atcihosting.com/shared.php vs. Current Dreamhost Special: http://www.dreamhost.com/hosting.html Thanks again in advance. I feel very time-consuming and awful for asking so many questions, so please feel free to leave them for someone else who's really bored if you're busy! :P |

Well I guess I'm the bored one who has too much free time then, LOL! Hi acuteschoolgirl, welcome to cozy. As for hosting, both I and balls_deep both use ATCI.
So we can say from first hand experience that they are great with good suppport and help, very little down time and so on. Cheap gets you,,, well,,, something cheap. Your host is your whole home for your blogs, go for the best, not the cheapest. While I'm here I'll say that blogs are the way to go, that's all I do is blog, I even make them into full sites. So learn those as much as you can. I push sissyboy stuff, and see lots of phone sex and recording stuff for forced feminization, femdom and all that. I tried a phone sponsor once but never got a sale, but then I don't really know how to push them. So I am sure you can make money with it, hell you already are. You just need to know how to find the traffic, since where you are now takes care of that for you.
